During Ubisoft's E3 presentation, the publisher released a new trailer for their Toys-to-Life sci-fi title, Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Last year, Ubisoft forged a strong relationship with Nintendo when it released Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. How it all works is described in the trailer you see below.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas will launch on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 16th 2018, but the Star Fox content - including Fox McCloud, his Arwing and a set of bonus missions - are exclusive to Nintendo's console.
Lead a group of interstellar pilots as you build your own starship, explore the Atlas Star System, and battle the vile Grax and his Forgotten Legion.
In terms of gameplay, Atlas is a space dogfighting game that takes place in a huge open world.
"We are excited to give players a deeper look at Starlink: Battle for Atlas, the first all-new property from Ubisoft Toronto", said the studio's creative director, Laurent Malville.
The hope, of course, is that Nintendo eventually does more with the Star Fox franchise on Switch, but this might satiate some fans for the time being.
The introduction of Star Fox into Ubisoft's new space game is completely unexpected, but not necessarily a surprise. "We believe the Atlas open star system is a ideal playground for Fox to explore and hope players will too".
