Super Eagles paid $9000 appearance fee each for World Cup friendlies

Members of the Super Eagles are on their way to Yessentuki, Russia, after camping in Austria for three weeks, ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles fell 1-0 to Czech Republic last week in a friendly match in Russian Federation after which Coach Gernot Rohr admitted that more work needed to be done ahead of the World Cup.

The Super Eagles - the first African team to qualify for the 21st World Cup, will be making their sixth appearance on the global scene and have been zoned in Group D alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia.

Calling on Nigerians to get behind the Super Eagles, he said, "We are using this medium to call on Nigerians to get behind the team and those spreading rumours regarding the welfare of the team should make enquiry".

SCORENigeria specially gathered this was paid the team to further fire them up for the World Cup, which kicks off on Thursday in Moscow.

The outfits caused quite a stir on social media, with captain Jon Obi-Mikel and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi sharing pictures of their new attire.
