Paul Pogba has urged France not to let an opportunity to win the World Cup pass as Les Bleus booked their place in Sunday's showpiece with a 1-0 win over Belgium.

France forward Antoine Griezmann has hit back at Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois's criticism of his team's style of play.

"Zinedine Zidane is a legend and football icon, and Griezmann is on his way to becoming one too", the Frenchman said, according to Marca. Their striker plays 30 metres from his own goal.

After the match Courtois and fellow Belgium star Eden Hazard expressed their disappointment at how France had conducted themselves. "France heads a corner and does nothing more than defend", Courtois said.

The Red Devils star has been a key player in France's run to the World Cup final under Didier Deschamps in Russian Federation this summer.

'I would have preferred to have lost in the quarter-finals to Brazil, at least that was a team that wanted to play football.' Hazard added: 'I prefer to lose with this Belgium than win with that France'.

"Thibaut Courtois, he played at Atletico, he was a Spanish champion".

"We don't care how we win, we just want to win, all we care about is getting the second star on this shirt".

Griezmann described France's defence as key to their chances of clinching the country's second World Cup victory on Sunday, backing himself, Giroud and Mbappe to continue their good form in attack.
