Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez targeting Champions League glory

'Since the day he came to Leicester, the season he had last season as well, it doesn't surprise me to see him succeeding at the World Cup.

Mahrez has been one of the most consistent forwards in the Premier League in recent seasons, with his player-of-the-year winning performances in Leicester's stunning title success of 2015-16 particularly standing out.

"Everyone has been watching the World Cup".

Leicester are unlikely to allow their star performer to leave easily as they seek to build towards European football again, having finished ninth in the league last term, and already spending big to sign James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira from Norwich and Porto respectively. They deserve a lot of credit for what they have achieved because reaching the semi final is very, very hard. I want to be part of this.

There has been discussion among City fans as to how boss Pep Guardiola will arrange his stunning array of attacking power next season, but Mahrez is confident he can thrive wherever he plays according to the Guardian's report. "I'm very happy and will give my best to this club".

Pep Guardiola was a big pull for Mahrez, and the 27-year-old was asked about the City boss and his expectations.

Mahrez said: "The prices have been very big in every country so it doesn't affect me". Now I'm here and I'm happy.

"After what they've done it's unbelievable", Mahrez, 27, told a news conference. I want to help this team improve and I believe that is what the manager wants'. We didn't think we were going to lose but we did.

"The most important thing is I'm here, happy and starting a new challenge and a new life", he said."[January] is in the past, I'm here's what happened before and I'm happy now. I wanted to work under him and to play in this club.

"They have everything they need to succeed in the Champions League and that's where I want to play".
