Shaqiri having medical ahead of £13m Liverpool move

The Switzerland global became the club's third new arrival of the summer today when he completed a medical and penned a long-term contract at Melwood.

Liverpool, certainly, is ahead of any other Premier League sides in the transfer market as the Merseysiders already have clinched the signatures of highly rated midfield pair Naby Keita and Fabinho.

Liverpool have completed the £13million ($17m) signing of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City.

And on Friday, it looks as though Shaqiri will be arriving for a medical before completing a £13.5 million switch to Anfield from Stoke City. Shaqiri has been strongly linked with the Red half of Merseyside for the past couple of months but rivals Manchester United were also keen to acquire the services of 26-year-old winger.

Shaqiri has been brought in by Jurgen Klopp to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho after he left Liverpool for Barcelona.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Shaqiri in recent months and TeamTalk reported earlier this week that Manchester United had joined their rivals in the race to sign the Switzerland global.

"Xherdan Shaqiri makes a remarkable change within England", it read.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in the Switzerland worldwide, who is preparing to leave Stoke City following their relegation from the Premier League.

Shaqiri would not be seen as someone to regularly feature in Reds starring XI but certainly gives Jurgen Klopp a variety of options in the front line. He has agreed a five-year deal and has taken over the No 23 shirt that was vacated by Emre Can's move to Juventus.

"So I'd say that's a hit, as a squad player, Shaqiri to Liverpool".
