Paul Pogba hints at Barcelona links on Instagram after Leicester win

Until tomorrow, anyway. Jose Mourinho's side recorded a 2-1 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford in a game that would make you long for the World Cup.

Paul Scholes has conceded that there is a chance that Jose Mourinho will leave Manchester United during the 2018-19 Premier League season.

'I find myself in the beginning of the Premier League with the market closed in the situation I thought I was not going to be in, ' said Mourinho.

That's football, that's football management, and I think football is changing and probably football managers should be called head coaches.

Mourinho did not get the new centre-half he wanted in the transfer window and, from the comments he made after the Leicester match about being a head coach instead of a manager, he is still not happy about it. I haven't won the Premier League, I haven't won the Champions League, I haven't won the Euros so there are more to win.

United were outstanding in the early stages and I think the Foxes were in shock at the way they came out of the blocks and took control of the game. "We have to wait until the end of November to understand if we can fight for the title". Or you believe in the pundits and go with what they say.

"We must get used to teams who have players of the same quality that we have". Every team is a good team, forget the name, forget the history, forget the shirt.

Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, amid suggestions that he was disappointed by Mourinho's faint praise of his achievement as he played a pivotal role in helping France win the World Cup in Russian Federation this summer.

Another Frenchman who actually had no pre-season, Paul Pogba, could be on the bench for United in their season opener against Leicester on Friday, despite returning to training just this week.

'Paul was fantastic. His contribution was awesome.

"[It] was not hard", Mourinho added. "The mentality and tactical discipline was very good".

'Of course, we have second or third choice in case he is not confident or for some reason doesn't want to take it.

It's reported by The Sun that United were actually prepared to shell out £100m for French World Cup victor Varane, but Real Madrid were not interested in selling.
