Unai Emery: 'Arsenal must control matches, become more aggressive'

Manchester City are unbeaten in their last five league encounters with Arsenal who begin a new era under manager Unai Emery following last May's departure of long-serving manager Arsene Wenger.

Friendships between team-mates can be a key facet when it comes to improving team morale and Goal understands that Emery's high-intensity training sessions have been welcomed by the Arsenal squad this summer.

City made just one signing over the summer as Riyad Mahrez arrived from Leicester, but despite their lack of acquisitions, it would be hard to bet against City being even better in 2018/19.

Arsenal players have admitted that they are doing double training sessions under the new manager than in the past as they have posted pictures of themselves exhausted after tiring sessions and Arsenal's director of high performance says that Unai Emery has made some significant changes to the training methods used at the training grounds. The likes of Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva are not expected to be up to speed yet but City still looked a class apart without them when they beat Chelsea in the Community Shield last weekend. This season, however, Manchester City kick off their title defence with a tough trip to Arsenal.

"City, I think, after two years of working with Guardiola they have more stability, more security and when you watch City's matches, they are playing with a very, very great confidence in themselves".

Pep Guardiola's team are fancied once more, and who'd put it past them to be lifting the title again in May.

The German should be flanked by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the left and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right.

"Raheem and Kevin had three weeks off after the World Cup, which is not too much time (for pre-season) but they both arrived in the flawless way". "Every season we are the favourites". The full-back suffered an injury in the team's preseason match against Chelsea. The Brazilian has made this position his own and will be a certainty for City in this position not only in this match but throughout the season provided he his fully fit.

The uncertainty over Monreal meant Ainsley Maitland-Niles was set to deputise at left-back but the experienced Spaniard could now take his place in the team.

Defenders Sead Kolasinac and Laurent Koscielny are long-term absentees with respective knee and Achilles injuries.

He adds: "I see Kevin de Bruyne smashing it in terms of the PFA player of the year".

Having missed out on the Champions League, Arsenal will play in the Europa league but boy aren't they in safe hands!
