The West Delhi police have registered an FIR against one Rohit Singh Tomar after a woman filed a complaint following a viral video doing the rounds where Tomar is seen brutally assaulting another woman.

The arrest took place hours after Home Minister Rajnath Singh directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take necessary action.

A case has been registered against him on the charges of assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code. He had allegedly threatened that she would meet the same fate if she did not marry him. Reportedly, the girl had broken off with the accused some three months back and he has been harassing her ever since.

The son of a Delhi policeman has been arrested after he was seen slapping and kicking a woman and knocking her to the ground in a disturbing video. When she said that she will file a complaint, the accused assaulted her, she has alleged. A Twitter user posted the video in the comments section of the Union minister's Twitter handle, where the accused can be seen mercilessly hitting the woman several times.

She said she shared on social media, the video of Tomar beating another woman, which he sent to her as a warning.

But no one comes to the woman's help according to the reports, the incident occurred on September 2 in a private office in Delhi's Uttam Nagar.

Singh intervened after coming to know about the viral video in which the accused - Rohit Tomar - was seen pulling the girl by the hair and brutally thrashing her.

The person who recorded the video was Ali, a friend and classmate of Rohit's, who works at this call centre.

The cases against the accused have been registered on the basis of the statement given by two women, the police said.
