Their monologue kicked off the 70th Annual Emmy Awards.

"Game of Thrones", which sat out last year's Emmys because of scheduling, won despite competition from defending champ "The Handmaid's Tale".

"Let's get it trending: #EmmysSoWhite", presenter James Corden joked at the midway point, riffing off an earlier tribute to Betty White.

Stars like Sterling K. Brown, Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson, Aidy Bryant, Tituss Burgess, Kristen Bell, RuPaul, Andy Samberg, Ricky Martin and John Legend sang and danced their way through the satirical number, which called out various discrepancies and long overdue moments, like Sandra Oh's history-making Emmy nomination as the first Asian woman to be recognized in a lead acting category ever. These snubbed shows may have been ripped off by the Emmys, but they won't go unnoticed by us. "From Democrats to other Democrats".

Had Issa Rae or Tracee Ellis Ross won the top comedy acting prize, they would have become the first black actress to win the category in 37 years. Peter Dinklage won supporting actor honors for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

Brown and Milo Ventimiglia from "This Is Us", Ed Harris and Jeffrey Wright in "Westworld" and Matthew Rhys in "The Americans" are vying for best actor in a drama series.

On the comedy side, Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" won for outstanding comedy, lead actress Rachel Brosnahan and supporting actress Alex Borstein.

Glover was also nominated for outstanding lead actor in a comedy, along with Anthony Anderson for "Black-ish", Ted Danson for "The Good Place", Larry David for "Curb Your Enthusiasm", Bill Hader for "Barry" and William H. Macy for "Shameless".

Show creator Ryan Murphy dedicated the "Versace" limited series trophy to LGBT victims of hate crimes.

"Godless" supporting actor Jeff Daniels thanked his horse.

Emmy-winning director Glenn Weiss, left, turned his acceptance speech into a proposal to his girlfriend Jan Svendsen. She said yes, he put his mother's ring on her finger and the crowd whooped and cheered. "But it's all going to get balanced out by an all-white reboot of Atlanta called 15 Miles Outside of Atlanta", Jost said "And it focuses on white women who call the police on the cast of Atlanta", Che joked.

Scarlett Johansson has arrived on the 2018 Emmys red carpet in Los Angeles wearing a white Balmain gown and one very large and very permanent accessory - a back tattoo.

President Trump's least favorite TV show, "Saturday Night Live", picked up another Emmy for variety sketch series.
