Game Freak’s New IP Town Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019

The game was revealed as part of last night's Nintendo Direct, with a short glimpse of gameplay.

The story takes place in a small village that suddenly sees the appearance of monsters.

GameFreak, the creators of the Pokémon video game series, has announced a brand new RPG IP with the working title, Town.

Adam Bankhurst is a news writer for IGN who has all the faith in the world in Game Freak and is excited to vacation in this troubled village next year. From what we gather based on the very, very (very) limited information available about Town at this time, it appears that the game will utilize a kind of Suikoden-like party system.

You as a player would be required to defend the villagers from such horrendous monsters in a turn-based role-playing game format.

Game Freak Inc is most known for its tireless work on the Pokémon franchise, it also has some history with other original IPs such as Giga Wrecker in 2017 and Tembo the Badass Elephant in 2015.

Town is planned to release in 2018 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Players will be able to enlist other townspeople to help in hard battles.

The game is now titled Town, but that seems to be a working title that will likely change during the course of the game's development.
