And amid his exit, Warner Bros.is looking to shake up its DC film universe - again. Warners has chose to part ways the British actor, who has played the role of Kal-El in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

It appears to be a period of change in Henry Cavill's career.

As you can see in the slides below, fans are pouring support for Cavill onto social media, and their tune is rather melancholic.

But Henry Cavill is reportedly hanging up his Superman cape as scheduling conflicts lead Warner Bros to rule out any future appearances for the actor as the DC Extended Universe superhero. There have been few concrete reports around plans for a Justice League sequel anytime soon.

THR said: "Contract talks between Cavill's WME reps and Warners broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances".

To date, Cavill stepped into Superman's suit three times for the DCEU, but each outing was marred by lackluster reviews. "The studio has shifted its focus to a Supergirl movie, which will be an origin story featuring a teen superheroine", THR writes. If Cavill is out, it looks like the two founding pillars of Warner Bros' DCEU might be leaving crimefighting behind.

The eight-episode Netflix adaptation of the bestselling medieval fantasy book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski centers on the protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a "Witcher" who travels the countryside slaying terrifying beasts.
