Nintendo Switch Online has been a long time coming.
In the Nintendo Direct presentation showing off Nintendo Switch Online, Gradius, Double Dragon, and Mighty Bomb Jack were among the 3rd party games shown for the service. Once September 18's updated is installed, you won't be able to unlink the profiles anymore. No word yet if they'll be given any sort of retail release. Super Mario Bros. and forthcoming Excitebike and Ice Climber games. Both have offered online services for years, but at a much costlier price.
A year and a half after launching, the Nintendo Switch is finally getting an official online service. You can check out some images of the controllers in the gallery below. These include Tradewest's classic take on Double Dragon; Konami titles like Gradius; Capcom games like Ghosts "n Goblins; Technos" River City Ransom; and more.
We weren't entirely sure what to expect from today's delayed Nintendo Direct, but I think it was worth the wait.
Nintendo's most recent Direct has so far been met with much enthusiasm; the subreddit r/NintendoSwitch, for example, has been flooded with excitement and news.
