Trump dismisses Woodward book as 'joke'

The situation, which former President Obama recently said "sure isn't normal", has recently been highlighted by the publication of an anonymous New York Times op-ed, wherein a "a senior official in the Trump administration" paints a picture of a secret coordinated effort to thwart the president, and by the buzzy publication on Tuesday of Bob Woodward's new book Fear: Trump in the White House.

"People who are well respected in this administration have come out and denied it", he said.

The author of the op-ed described him- or herself as one of several high-level government officials who "are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of [Trump's] agenda and his worst inclinations"-combating the president's "amorality" and "erratic behavior" in order to promote a conservative agenda like the one many in Trump's cabinet have spent their careers working to advance".

Woodward tells Colbert how Trump goes "ballistic" at the questions and "makes things up, starts screaming, ' and says how the lawyer, Dowd, thought that if he had been Mueller, he would have been 'fired on the spot". "I think you buried the lead".

And when asked about Mattis and Chief of Staff John Kelly's denials of the comments they reportedly made about Trump, Woodward refused to say that they were lying, instead alleging that "they are not telling the truth". US President further said that if he had spoken like that then he wouldn't had become the US President. "I know what I borrowed, when I borrowed, when I paid it back".

Pressed on whether Trump can win a credibility battle with the Pulitzer victor who helped expose President Richard Nixon's Watergate-era transgressions, Sanders pointed to "actual, on record" accounts from White House staffers, again pointing to Mattis and Kelly, "not disgruntled former employees".

"I like him very much", Trump is quoted as saying by Woodward. "It's a way to say you're important to this story, I take you seriously". "It is past time for the Republicans in the majority in Congress to put their country before their party and provide investigatory oversight, because no legislation nor nominee is worth the potential threat to our democracy outlined in recent accounts of the Trump White House". Our side is getting all the things that they're wanting to because my father's delivering on all of the promises that he made.

Like the rest of the establishment media, as we head into the midterms, Woodward seems desperate to keep everyone's eye off of the results of Trump's management style, which have been an unqualified success.

"So our people, the MAGA people, they have to turn out". They have to get out and vote. "What do we get from protecting Taiwan, say?" If I did, I would not have been elected president.

More recently, Trump has accused Woodward of fabricating quotes and questioned whether USA libel laws could be changed so that people who believe they have been wronged would be in a better position to seek "retribution".

The book claims that Trump falsely suggested that McCain took an early-release from the PoW camp in Vietnam-something that Mattis quickly told the President wasn't true.
