Vikings sign Dan Bailey, waive Daniel Carlson

If Minnesota truly wants to make the Super Bowl, fixing their kicking game will be imperative. Let me restart this.

He responded with, "Did you see the game?" and then said it was a "pretty easy" decision.

With this being a division game, it was one the Vikings really needed to win. They traded two sixth-round picks to the New York Jets to move up and do so.

Only Zane Gonzalez performed worse than Carlson: He missed two field goals and two PATs. But I'm getting ahead of myself. After his first attempt sailed wide left, Zimmer opted to go for a two-point conversion after scoring early in the second quarter instead of bringing Carlson out to kick the extra point.

The Vikings didn't immediately add a replacement for Carlson, but Zimmer confirmed that free agent Dan Bailey was making his way to Minnesota for a physical exam.

Thus ends a career that'll live forever in infamy and as a trivia question at Vikings bars for years to come.

Carlson missed one in regular time and two more in overtime. However, he had struggled with injuries late last season as it impacted his play on the field missing five out of 12 field goal attempts in the last month that pushed him below 84 percent in his career. He was released by the Cowboys during roster cuts this year after they made a decision to go with a kicker in Brett Maher who had never kicked during the regular season of the NFL.

Between all the games Sunday, there were nine games that had a missed field goal or failed PAT.
