Astros Bring Split ALCS Home to Houston

And which teams are a must-back?

Kimbrel got the save in Game 2, but it wasn't void of drama.

"I expect myself to be great in big moments and I haven't done that in big moments", Price said after the Sox squared the series at a win apiece before it shifts to Texas for the next three.

TBS's 2018 MLB Postseason viewership is up 41% over 2016, the last time the network televised the A.L., and 11% over a year ago. That one swing jump-started what was a 7-5 victory at Fenway Park, one that gave renewed hope to the sellout crowd of 37,960 fans on hand.

Game 2 of the ALCS, held Sunday night in Boston, was a play in three parts. Yuli Gurriel grounded out to third but the Red Sox couldn't turn two to get out of the inning.

It was the first-ever postseason matchup of No. 1 overall draft picks, with Price going first to Tampa Bay in the 2007 draft and Cole the top pick by Pittsburgh in 2011. Red Sox relievers, though, would have none of that on Sunday night.

Not a true "W", of course - you need 15 outs for one of those, and Price fell one shy. His latest effort wasn't quite enough yet for the first time since he joined the Boston Red Sox, Price can walk away from a playoff start feeling good about himself.

As you've probably already figured out, Price didn't do anything to reverse the narrative on Sunday night. He was on the hook for four runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Justin Verlander allowed two runs through six innings, though he needed some pretty sharp glove work in the field to help him get through his appearance. That brings us to this.

"That's my first team win as a starter", Price said, smiling.

Betts added one more run in the eighth with an RBI double - just the second run-scoring hit of his postseason career. J.D. Martinez lined out to second, and then Xander Bogaerts reached on an error by Cole. Rafael Devers also scored, giving the Sox a lead they would never relinquish.

Price just missed out on his first playoff win as a starter, allowing four earned runs on five hits, and four walks in 4 2/3 innings.

Cole ran into trouble again in the third, thanks in part to Bradley (more on that below).

Red Sox hitters dominated right-handed pitching to the tune of a.349 weighted on-base average this season, the best in baseball. He gave up the two soft runs in the second and then two much more emphatic ones in the third, courtesy of a mammoth home run by Gonzalez, who in the bottom of the inning would crash hard into the Green Monster trying, and failing, to catch a drive off the bat of Bostons Steve Pearce. The ball caromed off the wall and onto the padding in front of the left field seats, allowing Devers to score the go-ahead run. That set in motion a two-run double cue shot down the right field line by George Springer. Just three of the 30 teams in either league have fallen short of the World Series after winning the first two games in this postseason round, with Boston the last club to overcome such a deficit in 2004. Marwin Gonzalez has 12 hits and is batting.308 over his past 10 games for Houston. Cora told reporters after the implosion against the Yankees that he was not considering demoting Price to the bullpen, and he told Price before the Red Sox had even shed their jerseys in favor of ALDS CHAMPIONS shirts that he would have Game 2, but Price's history so far is that of perhaps the worst starting performance in 114 years of baseball postseasons. Jackie Bradley Jr. ripped a bases-clearing double to put Price back up, 5-4, and then the lefty really responded. To win a World Series and do it multiple times.
