The man allegedly broke into St Augustine Alligator Farm in Florida to pull the insane stunt. ". When they made contact with him, he claimed he had been bitten by an alligator".
Mr Hatfield, who was already facing burglary and damaging property/criminal mischief charges, then chose to dive into a pond filled with crocodiles.
Brandon Hatfield allegedly jumped a fence at St. Augustine Alligator Farm on Tuesday night and spent about four hours inside a crocodile pen before being attacked by a 12-foot reptile, CBS News reported. The man had to get through several barriers to gain access to the crocodiles.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment, police say.
The alligator farm is a popular tourist attraction in St. Augustine, and Brueggen said it's the first time in the 125-year history of the alligator farm that someone jumped into an exhibit.
While he was being transported to a nearby hospital, another 911 call came in, reporting the alligator farm break-in the previous evening, and authorities realized the two incidents were related.
"I would think he's on some sort of drugs", Bruggen said.
He also caused damage to the complex in the region of $5,000 (£3,800).
