Barcelona transfer target Willian provides update on his Chelsea future

Willian, who netted Saturday's victor, has been linked to a big-money move to Barcelona and midfielder Cesc Fabregas may also be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian worldwide was a summer target for the Spanish champions but the Blues rejected three bids for the winger.

Blues boss Sarri is adamant that he wants to hold onto the 30-year-old, and said: "Of course I don't want to lose him".

Yet after scoring the victor in Chelsea's 2-1 Premier League victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, Willian dismissed speculation regarding his future.

When asked if Willian's contract which is set to expire in 2020 will extended by a year, Sarri cut him short.

"Stop, stop, stop. I don't know anything about the Willian contract, but I don't know what to answer", Sarri said during his post-game news conference. I don't know the detail. "In my opinion, Willian has to stay with us because for us he is really a very important player, like Pedro". A very important player, like Pedro.

"[Callum] Hudson-Odoi is becoming for us a very important player".

Once again, Sarri stubbornly stuck to his experiment with Eden Hazard as Chelsea's central striker despite the Belgian star's dislike of the tactic. We need to improve in the mental reaction because after the first goal something happened.

Hudson-Odoi then replaced Pedro for the final minutes to make his second Premier League appearance of the season and received a warm reception from the home supporters. "In this moment he is a fundamental player".

Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Arsenal, where the Blues will hope to put further breathing room between themselves and the fifth-placed Gunners.

According to the Mirror, Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang will look to test the Blues' resolve to keep Willian at the club, and could rival the interest of Barcelona, who had a £50m bid turned down earlier in the week. ( - We have updated to serve you better.
