Chelsea reject player plus cash deal for Willian from Barcelona

Chelsea are reportedly reluctant to consider the sale of Willian during the winter transfer window after recently snubbing a player-plus-cash deal worth £50m from Barcelona for the Brazil worldwide.

The Spanish league champions were interested in signing Willian back in the summer transfer window and made a number of bids to acquire his services, all of which were rebuffed.

FC Barcelona have reportedly reactivated their interest in a Chelsea star and offered €42 million plus one of their own players for their target. "For us, "Willie" is a very important player and it's impossible that he could leave in January".

"I didn't receive anything [about Willian] yesterday [Thursday]".

"If you ask me about the market you put me in trouble because I don't know how to answer".

"Usually he wants ball on the feet, so I think he can improve in movements without the ball", Sarri said. "And he has the potential to score more".

Chelsea secured a late 2-1 triumph over Newcastle United on the road in the reverse fixture and they can anticipate another tricky test with the Magpies likely to adopt a defensive approach to frustrate them.

It's become abundantly clear this season that the Blues' squad needs revamping, such as finding a successor for Gary Cahill and replacing Alvaro Morata.

"Of course, if he goes to another club we need a replacement, it's normal", the Italian added.

"At the moment, for his mental condition, he is not able to play I think".
