Trump Mocks Global Warming as Temps Sink: 'Please Come Back'

Arsenal defender Héctor Bellerín has taken to social media to respond to U.S. president Donald Trump's statements on global warming.

Citing the bad cold that has gripped the Midwest, Trump taunted the phenomenon of global warming asking it to "come back fast" in his tweet. In coming days, expected to get even colder. "People can't last outside even for minutes", he tweeted this afternoon.

Trump has frequently cast doubt on climate change, especially when cold weather hits. As he noted, "Trump's climate-trolling is such obvious outrage bait that you nearly want to ignore it, but it's also self-provided evidence of one of the most significant ignorance crises of his presidency, so I dunno".

Trump's tweet is similar to one he sent out last week insisting it "wouldn't be bad to have a little of that good old fashioned Global Warming right now!"

Northern Illinois University climate scientist Victor Gensini said the cold snap is "simply an extreme weather event" and doesn't represent the global trend toward a warming Earth.

As the Associated Press reported, "weather refers to the atmospheric conditions during a shorter period, while climate is a longer view of weather patterns".

The president said the same thing back in November when it was cold.

"In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year's Eve on record".

"Many of the jurisdictions that have selected political leaders opposed to climate policy are the most exposed to the harms of climate change", the authors note.

In response to his tweet, several users mocked the president for his incorrect words and misunderstanding of climate change versus weather. This is in keeping with the US President's track record on the matter.
