The child, who was less than 1-year-old, was barefoot and wearing a onesie and diaper, according to MCTS.

Harrowing video footage shows a Milwaukee bus driver rescuing a baby girl she spotted wandering on a freeway overpass last month. Security video shows the boy toddling down the overpass.

"I'm just grateful I was in the right place at the right time", Ivic said at a commendation ceremony held in her honor on Thursday.

Ivic stopped her bus, ran across the busy street, picked up the crying child, and carried her to safety.

A passenger on the bus took off her winter coat and draped it around the little girl, who was cold to the touch. The boy was chilled after spending time outside in the freezing temperatures.

Another passenger brought her jacket up to the front of the bus to help the boy warm up.

According to the video shared online, the baby girl is eventually united with her father.

The boy fell asleep in Ivic's arms, MCTS said.

The Milwaukee County Transit System says the girl was less than a year old and wearing only a diaper and a onesie when bus driver Irena Ivic spotted him on December 22.

"I absolutely love kids". Officials believe the baby went missing after her mother had a mental health crisis.
