A 24-year-old musician was robbed and gunned down in an alley near his house, and five juveniles have been charged in the shooting.

They identified the three oldest, 14 year old Roniyah McKnight, 15 year old Diamond Lewis, and 16 year old Decorrius Wright.

After he was shot, Yorlets managed to make it back inside his home and was found later that afternoon by a housemate, investigators say.

A police statement says five youths in a stolen pickup truck took his wallet, demanded the keys to his vehicle and shot him when he refused.

Police said the children were attempting to steal the 24-year-old singer's vehicle and shot him after he refused to turn over his keys.

When officers took the kids into custody, they said they found two loaded pistols that had been reported stolen.

The pickup truck was found abandoned on Timberland Drive, which is south of the airport. Yorlets was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Police say Yorlets was a Belmont University student from Pennsylvania and a member of a local band. Under Tennessee law, three of the teens' names were allowed to be released because they are over 13 and are charged with homicide.

The band released its debut album "Carverton" in 2017.

'On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend, and bandmate Kyle Yorlets, ' they wrote.

"We are heartbroken", three of his bandmates said in a statement.

"We will never forget Kyle, and though he is gone too soon his legacy is here to stay", the band said.

Early Friday morning, Metro Nashville Police Department arrested five teenagers in connection with the robbery and shooting.

A loaded 9-millimeter pistol was recovered from the suspects, as well as a second loaded pistol which was recovered from inside the store. Since the 2016 addition of drummer Christian Ferguson and bassist Michael Wiebell, Carverton have travelled the eastern half of the United States spreading the gospel of new-age Rock N Roll.
