'El Chapo' Drug Kingpin Found GUILTY on All Charges by Brooklyn Jury


Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was found guilty on all of his 10 counts in a NY courthouse Tuesday, ending a three-month trial.

El Chapo escaped from Mexican prisons twice, but was recaptured in 2016, and extradited to the USA in January 2017.

During the 11-week trial jurors were shown shocking photos of crime scenes, drugs, military-grade weapons, and tunnels used by the drug lord during his decades-long career.

World's most infamous cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman found guilty.

On Tuesday, Lichtman called the conviction "devastating", but he said he was proud that the defence "left it all on the battlefield".

Federal prosecutors put on more than 50 witnesses over three months detailing how Guzman's Sinaloa cartel amassed billions of dollars importing cocaine, heroin, meth and marijuana into the US.

Former beauty queen Emma Coronel Aispuro onboarded the muscle last week, sources close to the Guzman family said, as publicity surrounding her husband's trial caused her to fear for her safety.

Federal prosecutors say a jury has reached a verdict in the US trial of Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Guzman's lawyers did not deny the defendant's charges but argued that he was the victim of government witnesses who were worse than he was.

The jury of eight women and four men deliberated roughly 34 hours over 6 days. "We were faced with extraordinary and unprecedented obstacles in defending Joaquin, including his detention in solitary confinement", the statement said, Reuters reported.

The most detailed evidence against Guzman came from more than a dozen former associates who struck deals to cooperate with USA prosecutors.
