Mixed bag of weather results in special weather statement for Windsor region

As it now looks, the heaviest snow may actually occur overnight and into early Tuesday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued until noon Sunday for a variety of winter weather conditions across Mid-Missouri, such as snow, blowing snow, sleet or freezing drizzle and rain.

On Tuesday morning, a winter storm with significant snow, freezing rain, and strong winds is expected to move into our area.

More than 120 people were rescued on Thursday from a Sierra Nevada, California, resort after being trapped by snow for five days.

A winter storm watch was in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon.

"Expect significant travel impacts, especially during the Tuesday afternoon into evening commute", forecasters wrote.

We're expecting at least an inch of snow overnight before the precipitation freezes up.

While exactly how much precipitation the area will receive is unclear officials said total snowfall and ice pellet amounts of 5 to 15 cm are possible, along with ice buildup from freezing rain. Well, according to maps generated Monday, parts of the Pioneer Valley have a chance at up to a foot of snow if things take a turn, and Greater Boston towns west and north of the city could get eight inches.

Light snow started to make its way into the interior lowlands in the late afternoon, the weather service said. Rain and Snow are possible by Friday.

The District may get a little trace amount of snow accumulating but it'll all get washed away as we switch over to rain Monday morning.
