Once downloaded, Netflix automatically removes the previously downloaded episodes, making more space available for future downloads.
"The Smart Downloads feature only turns on when you're connected to Wi-Fi, so your data plan will never be used, and it won't impact your device storage, because it will always delete the last watched episode before downloading the next one".
If you want to know more about how Smart Downloads work, check out the help page that Netflix set up.
NOTE: If there are no additional episodes to download in your series, the last watched episode will not be deleted. Of course if you prefer to do things the old way, you can disable this feature. This feature manages videos downloaded for offline viewing.
The iOS version of the Smart Download app is available starting today in the app store, so go grab your download today and start binge watching. To do this, select the Menu icon and then "App Settings".
"The feature is one more way we're making it easier for Netflix fans to take the stories they love wherever they go", the streaming firm says.
This update comes after the feature was first rolled out to Netflix for Android in July a year ago. Apple device owners already had access to the video platform's download feature for offline watching, but until now they've been required to manually delete and add content.
Netflix has recently been focusing heavily on offline access to its app to further expand its user base as the US market saturates. Some subscribers noticed a pop-up that asked them if they wish to "watch this scene again".
A Netflix spokesperson said "The faster our members can get to the next episode of their favourite stories, the better".
