XFL Announces Head Coach & General Manager for Dallas Team

Despite Stoops' name coming up virtually every time a major college or National Football League head coaching job came open, he stayed in Norman until announcing his retirement before the 2017 season.

Former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is coming out of retirement to lead the new Dallas franchise in the reincarnation of the XFL.

The league will begin play in February of 2020, with eight teams, including one in Dallas that will play at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

After serving as an assistant coach at the University of Iowa, University of Florida and Kansas State University, Stoops signed on as OU's head coach before the 1999 season. Ever since that news came out, the XFL has been pretty quiet.

The XFL is trying to make a big difference this time around. I've been limited in some of the stuff today this time of year anyway. "It'll be challenging for sure". But I respect the guys running things.

When the XFL relaunches in 2020, they'll need to do some heavy lifting in order to shed the stigma still lingering from their 2001 bust. "But this is 'real football.' If it was something goofy or have those old goofy names, I wouldn't be associated with it".

The XFL noted on Twitter that coaches for the other 7 teams will be introduced "very soon".
