Beto O'Rourke enters presidential conversation, but what are his chances?

Before Beto O'Rourke - the latest Democrat entrant to the 2020 presidential race - was embraced by liberal online donors, his top financial backers were wealthy businessmen who donated millions to Republicans, The Washington Post reported.

Texan Democrat Beto O'Rourke, who rose to prominence when he threatened an historic Senate victory during last year's U.S. mid-term elections, has announced he will run for the United States presidency next year. The Democratic field is so diverse, the ticket will likely have a man and a woman.

O'Rourke is also reportedly known for his vehement criticism of US President Donald Trump's policies. "This will help John Cornyn and help the Republicans", Branham said.

Klobuchar, asked about O'Rourke on Thursday, let out a hearty, "Welcome!" "He could be a good candidate for Kamala Harris to add to the ticket", Branham said. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren also sent a fundraising email, saying, "I'm sure you've seen" O'Rourke's launch.

Mr O'Rourke has represented Texas' 16 congressional district for three terms in the US House of Representatives. Ted Cruz a year ago, he was little known outside his hometown of El Paso, on Texas' border with Mexico.

According to The Washington Post, Beto O'Rourke's popularity has grown after he challenged Senator Ted Cruz a year ago.

And if O'Rourke declares his candidacy, the last main piece of the 2020 election puzzle will be former vice president Joe Biden, who has said he will reveal his political plans soon.

Of late, O'Rourke has tried to distance himself from some left-leaning candidates, such as Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA, whom Trump has derided as "socialists".

"This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us", O'Rourke said seated alongside his wife Amy.
