Texan Democrat Beto O'Rourke, who rose to prominence when he threatened an historic Senate victory during last year's U.S. mid-term elections, has announced he will run for the United States presidency next year. The Democratic field is so diverse, the ticket will likely have a man and a woman.

According to The Washington Post, Beto O'Rourke's popularity has grown after he challenged Senator Ted Cruz a year ago.

And if O'Rourke declares his candidacy, the last main piece of the 2020 election puzzle will be former vice president Joe Biden, who has said he will reveal his political plans soon.

Of late, O'Rourke has tried to distance himself from some left-leaning candidates, such as Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA, whom Trump has derided as "socialists".

"This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us", O'Rourke said seated alongside his wife Amy.
