Flash flood emergency forces evacuations in areas west of Omaha, Nebraska

The restrictions come as the river reached moderate flood stage at almost 32 feet on Friday at Omaha, where it's expected to crest at almost 34 feet on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Flood co-ordinators in Cambridge and North Dumfries are on high alert in the wake of a flood warning/flood watch message issued by the Grand River Conservation Authority late Wednesday afternoon.

Farther east, the Mississippi River saw moderate flooding in IL from Rock Island south to Gladstone.

The "bomb cyclone" slammed the central U.S. with hurricane-like winds and blizzard conditions this week, leaving in its tracks heavy rains and flooding. The National Weather Service in an updated outlook Friday said "significant" snowmelt flooding is likely in the valley.

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses".

The Union County Emergency Management says residents along the Missouri River should try to secure their property and prepare to evacuate. Darlington is in the midst of its third flood in a year, which is expected to be the worst since 1993 in that location.

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission employees used a fan boat to rescue residents in Gretna.

Grand River (City of Brantford and Six Nations): Flows are expected to peak in the Grand River through the City of Brantford on Friday evening.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland and other low-lying spots.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed an emergency disaster proclamation and activated the state emergency operations center Thursday.

A flood warning has been issued for the Missouri River at Kansas City as well.

At least four deaths were linked to the weather system.

The National Weather Service river gauge upstream from Cooper Nuclear Station was swept away, so measurements from the plant were being shared with the NWS, Becker told Newsweek. Flooding, hail and strong winds also were reported in parts of the two states.

Full closures of I-29 are in place at United States 136 at Rock Port, Mo. SEMA also supplied St. Joseph with a sandbagging machine. Flood coordinators are advised to monitor conditions along River Drive (south of Caledonia), Sims Lock Road, Grand Sports Road as well as the communities of Cayuga and Port Maitland.
