Hamideh tweeted out a picture of himself holding a painting of Tlaib and standing beside the newly sworn-in congresswoman back in January, stirring backlash from pro-Israel activists.

"This August, I will lead what I expect to be the largest delegation ever" to Israel, Hoyer said.

Representative Liz Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, told reporters on Wednesday that Omar "embodies a vile, hate-filled, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel bigotry".

Representative Nita Lowey, a New York Democrat who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, said she expects Congress to approve a $3.8bn aid package for Israel, especially she said, with support from AIPAC members who will be lobbying their members of Congress on Tuesday.

"So, to me, I say raise hell". She said that the organizer first began attacking America, then Israel, then the Jews. "Even her own Democrat colleagues echoed Speaker Nancy Pelosi's tepid call for Omar to apologize", Cardozo-Moore explained. "We must stand in solidarity to affirm that she will not be allowed to use the heart of American democracy and freedom to defame God's chosen people and God's chosen land", she said. Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez...

Other Republicans who voted no, such as Chris Collins of NY, said the bill was not "strong enough in support of Israel, the only true democracy in the Middle East".

Hoyer has since said his comments about freshman Democrats were "misinterpreted", clarifying that he wasn't singling out specific members as much as he was "lamenting" that the media doesn't focus on other "excellent new members". "The intense hatred of Israel is creeping from the margins to the center of our national politics", Kohr said.

He later added, "By the way there are 62 freshmen Democrats".

"What's interesting is, at the United Nations, I can guarantee you it is radio silent. And a year ago, the United States ended all USA contributions to UNRA", the vice president said.

After a counter-protester was killed in 2017 at a white supremacist rally in Virginia where demonstrators chanted "Jews will not replace us", Trump said there was blame on "both sides".

"We need to ensure that anti-Semitism has no place within the venerable House Foreign Affairs Committee", the letter states.

Rep. Steny Hoyer, the number two Democrat in the House, came under fire from progressives Sunday night after he used his address at AIPAC's policy conference to attack left-wing members of his caucus and throw his full support behind a resolution condemning the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement.

Omar was appointed to the committee in January. Protestors and activists have accused the organization of increasingly partisan behavior, pointing to President Donald Trump's alignment with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and proposed USA policy of recognizing Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights region.

Omar's office didn't not respond to requests for comment about Pence and Hoyer's speeches at AIPAC.

"We will continue to [support Israel] and we will maintain that bipartisan relationship through thick and thin", Schumer said to loud applause.
