The Youth Climate Strike will take place in more than 130 cities in the USA, and in 90 countries. Adults are more than welcome to join us. "We are striking because we have done our homework and they have not". We'll be walking from the University of Malta to the Parliament building in Valletta, to raise awareness on our future and our planet!

Now, the young trailblazer is calling on students from around the world to follow her lead and participate in a global school strike on March 15.

She planted the seed of the movement when Sweden was having its parliamentary elections last September.

She has even provided a template letter on the Facebook event page, Global Climate Strike, for those hoping to attend the protest to give to their schools.

"I just thought that nothing is happening and no one is doing anything to fight climate change", she told CBSN.

She soon gained a large following on social media for her work, and the movement she started spread to other countries across Europe and around the world.

In addition to being featured on TIME's list of the 25 Most Influential Teens of 2018, Greta was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by three Norwegian MPs who announced the nomination this week.

Malala Yousafzai now holds the record for youngest Nobel laureate after she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at the age of 17. The politicians also noted that "We have proposed Greta Thunberg because if we do nothing to halt climate change it will be the cause of wars, conflict and refugees". Freddy Andre Oevstegaard and two additional members of the Socialist Left Party in Norway have confirmed they submitted Thunberg's name to the Nobel Committee earlier this year, saying they believe "the massive movement Greta has set in motion is a very important peace contribution".

'I think that change is on the horizon and the people will stand up for their future'.
