Harvick captures pole for Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond

Truex led a race high of 186 laps en route to his victory.

"As you look at this place, this is really one of those places where you kind of have to go off of what happened last time", Harvick said.

Logano appeared to have a auto capable of taking the victory in his own right for much of the 400-lap race, running Truex down and passing him to win the second stage as he led 52 laps in the middle portion of the event.

He was running down Martin Truex Jr.in the final laps and appeared to have a shot at victory.

Where the short tracks are concerned, Kevin Harvick and his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing team appear to have turned a corner. A trip to victory lane on Saturday would be his 3rd straight after sweeping the 2018 Richmond races, and it would bump him up to tie for the second-most win with Bobby Allison. "It's really cool. As a driver, you wish it could widen out and give you more options of being able to run around in different grooves, but it hasn't shown us that the last couple of years".

Nascar is only 8 out of 36 races and Busch is on a pace to win at least 13 runs and as he says he has great hope of winning more races because the year has been successful. He was never able to make back up front to challenge for the lead.

Failing inspection twice were the cars of Chase Elliott (who qualified seventh), Denny Hamlin (18th), and Matt Tifft (20th).

Erik Jones will start on the outside of the front row, with Kurt Busch and Joey Logano in the second row.

"Sometimes in pro sports, you know, you get on a roll, things go well", Gibbs said.

The Joe Gibbs Racing star has won three times on the 0.75-mile, D-shaped oval and has been coming to the track for much of his life, even long before the Virginia racer became a driver in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

The qualifying times for all eight NASCAR Cup Series teams were disallowed and each driver will start at the rear of the field.

Five other teams failed inspection and had their qualifying speeds and pit selection disallowed.

With the series off next weekend for Easter, Larson is looking forward to the break. We had a decent green-flag cycle that got us up again ... and then we reeled in the 19 (Truex) and the 14 (Bowyer) from pretty far back. The top four finishers in this race will be eligible for the bonus when the series races next at Talladega Superspeedway in two weeks. Busch has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 10 races.
