Tiger Woods To Receive Presidential Medal Of Freedom From Donald Trump

Trump has awarded the Presidential Medals of Freedom to seven people during his presidency.

Trump himself awarded the Medal of Freedom to Babe Ruth, Alan Page, and Roger Staubach just a year ago, and Barack Obama awarded it to Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Willie Mays, among others, during his presidency. Trump has promised a lot on Twitter, so it remains to be seen if Tiger will actually receive the Medal, but as of now it's been a pretty great week for the golf icon.

The pro-golfer and Trump have known each other for over two decades and occasionally play golf together. However, for the first time in his career, Woods mounted a come-from-behind win in a major tournament, finishing with a one-stroke margin of victory. In 2018, he gave medals to football players Roger Staubach and Alan Page and a posthumous award to baseball player Babe Ruth.

Former President Barack Obama also congratulated the athlete.

Trump is an especially close watcher of the game, being the owner of Trump-brand golf courses and something of a student of the game himself - although there have been multiple reports, including from established golfers, that he cheats when competing.

Tiger Woods's fifth career Masters win on Sunday might have earned him even more than just his 15th major championship. "What a fantastic life comeback for a really great guy!"
