Reigning national champion Florida State (51-8), the only other team to beat Oklahoma this season, is the No. 4 seed.

This time though, it's for the NCAA tournament.

The Michigan Softball team is hosting an NCAA Tournament Regional in Ann Arbor later this week. Arizona State previously traveled to Tuscaloosa in 2005 for NCAA Regionals, with Alabama winning the lone meeting 3-1.

The victor of the Tuscaloosa Regional will face the victor of the Austin Regional being hosted by No. 9 Texas. The Tigers finished the regular season in a three-way tie for second place in the SEC.

Florida, which won the SEC tournament title on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Alabama, seemingly got the most generous seeding of the SEC teams.

It's also the highest seed the Gophers have ever gotten in the NCAA Tournament.

The double-elimination regional round begins Thursday and concludes Sunday. If Florida State wins its regional, it will host the Super Regionals. The two squads will round out the opening round of play on Friday at 9 p.m. CT. Along with the Bulldogs and the Redhawks, the Seattle Regional features the host team of Washington, which earned the third overall national seed, and Fordham.

North Dakota State head coach Darren Mueller echoed those sentiments. It's the first home regional for the Gophers since 2014.

The double elimination regional will conclude on May 19 and the victor of the 2019 NCAA Tallahassee Regional will match up with the victor of the Stillwater Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 23-26. The Wildcats are a No 14 seed and will open the tourney following the Illinois-Virginia Tech contest in the opener at noon. If Oklahoma wins the regional tournament, the Sooners will host one of the eight Super Regionals.

In their last NCAA Tournament appearance, the Bulldogs trekked to Tucson, Arizona, advancing to the Tucson Regional finals.
