"Thank god", one wrote along with a GIF of dancing Rick and Morty characters.

UPDATE: the announcement was also made by Rick and Morty themselves. Season four will premiere just over two years after the finale of season three in October 2017, the longest gap yet between seasons of the show. "We got all that, and we're both very excited". Do you really want to know?

Adult Swim's wildly popular animated comedy series Rick and Morty is finally returning.

In some alternate universe, you've already seen Rick and Morty's fourth season, and while it delighted the hell out of you, by the time you were finished watching it, you were already desperately obsessing about the fifth season that whatever good will the fourth brought you has been long forgotten. "Because when you are healthy and happy, I think you do end up getting home by sundown". But surely that's not going to last long since Rick, Morty, Beth, Summer and Jerry always end up creating more problems. And let's not forget "Pickle Rick", the episode that spawned a thousand memes and featured perhaps the most singularly freakish premise (Rick literally turns himself into a pickle to avoid going to family therapy) in a series that hangs its hat on extreme weirdness. When there's a specific date in November, we'll let you know. Will Rick become Godzilla?

As the show makes it way five more months until new episodes are available, a gentle reminder that our picks for the overall series episode ranking is still available and ready to be shouted at for inaccuracies.
