An officer had pulled Rodney Packett over for a traffic stop on May 13 on the I-10 before noticing a dead woman sitting next to him, said the Eloy Police Department in a statement.

The next morning, 70-year-old Rodney Puckett is seen using a luggage cart to move the body of 74-year-old Linda Puckett, said Sgt. Kristie Barnette, a police spokeswoman in Eloy, where Rodney Puckett was later arrested.

The statement did not indicate where Puckett and his wife had been heading on their road trip, only that they had been driving along Interstate 10 in Arizona. Linda had filed for the protective order and divorce on February 8, KNXV reported. That is according to court records.

Her body was turned over to the Pinal County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

Officials say they were tipped off to the situation after a fast food employee called police, saying a man and woman were naked in the vehicle.

The Eloy Police Department and Texas state police are trying to determine whether the woman was the victim of a homicide. The alert was canceled after he was discovered in a Kansas jail on a complaint of eluding officers, per KFOR.

Puckett was being held at the Pinal County Jail on a charge of abandonment or concealment of a body.

After Rodney Puckett was found, he was facing a charge of evading.
