Gibson added that the team can help itself and there is no point talking much about de Villiers. Calling him back would be unfair towards the current players who had been training together for the past year or so for the World Cup.
Gibson admitted it was annoying to be bombarded with questions on the subject before such an important World Cup match.
He also confirmed that it was made cleared to AB de Villiers that if he wanted to play the world cup, he should have made himself available for the series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. However, he chose the IPL and PSL, announced an early retirement and recused himself from the World Cup.
"So basically everything started with finance".
"Recently AB de Villiers announced that he wants to play for South Africa in the World Cup".
After three consecutive defeats, South Africa will eye their first win of the ongoing World Cup 2019 when they face West Indies at the Hampshire Bowl, here on Monday. He made a bad move by retiring early and secondly when you retired then stick to your decision now.
Gibson was left frustrated and the 50-year-old said de Villiers would have been with the squad right now if he really wanted to play the World Cup.
'But I think he should have remembered [at that point] that his country needs him. "The money will come today or tomorrow but you make the call of making money and ignore the World Cup".
"I think there are a lot more people who want AB here than AB wants to be here".
After backing the South African team management, Akhtar also suggested de Villiers to stand tall on morale grounds.
However, he told captain Faf du Plessis and coach Ottis Gibson that he would be willing to come out of retirement to play in the World Cup if they needed his services. "That's how I see it", Gibson said in Southampton. "You wanted to loot the whole mela and become breaking news by coming out into the team but that is not right". "Forget about your country".
"The country is down and out [in the Word Cup] because of you". The team management turned de Villiers down since he did fulfill the selection criteria - playing domestic and worldwide cricket in the months leading up to the World Cup - and they felt picking him would be unfair on the players who had been performing in his absence.
Akhtar concluded the video saying, "It's very sad that you have chosen money over your country".

It is believed that de Villiers had expressed desires of playing the tournament a day before South Africa's team was to be selected.
