Square Enix chose to open their E3 presser with the first major look at the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake. It'll be out this year for PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. The limited edition Final Fantasy timepieces will be shipped around the same date as the release of the game.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch on March 3, 2020, for PS4. The gunblade, in particular, would become a staple weapon in future Final Fantasy installments. The cast of Nintendo Voice Chat, IGN's Nintendo podcast, constantly questioned what had happened to it. Rumor has it the source files for Final Fantasy 8 were too hard to simply port, primarily a preservation issue.

The long-awaited remaster is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam later this year, two decades after its original release for PlayStation back in 1999.

After that intro, we finally got an explanation of how combat works. It's more than just "hacking and slacking". One of the most beloved games, Square Enix went into a deep dive during their E3 press conference this evening.

Maybe it has something to do with the original game code being lost to time or Square Enix not wanting to pony up and pay royalty fees to Faye Wong.

Luckily, Marvel hopefuls were treated to an extensive look at Marvel's Avengers right after the hype-inducing Final Fantasy 8 Remastered trailer.
