Ferland Mendy (Meulan-en-Yvelines, France, 8/6/1995) is now a Real Madrid player.
Madrid have purchased the French worldwide for a fee of £42.7 million - a not inconsiderable sum to add to the amounts already paid for Hazard (£90m), Jovic (£54m), Militao (£45m) and Rodrygo (£40.5m).
Mendy will be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, June 19, and the 24-year-old may have to compete with the experienced Marcelo and talented Sergio Reguilon for a starting place at left-back.
The left-back made 79 appearances for Lyon, scoring three goals, after joining from Le Havre in 2017 and has won two caps for France.
Zinedine Zidane has swiftly bolstered his squad after Madrid disappointingly finished third in LaLiga last term and crashed out of the Champions League in the last 16.
The arrival of Mendy brings the total of new signings up to four ahead of the 2019/20 season.
