The Met Office in England have issue a "yellow warning" for heavy rain at Trent Bridge in Nottingham area from Monday (June 10) through to mid-day on Thursday (June 13), the day on which India face New Zealand in their ICC World Cup match at Trent Bridge.

"Kabhi mehek ki tarah hum gulon se udte hain.Kabhi dhuyein ki tarah hum parbaton se udte hain.Ye kainchiyaan humein udne se khaak rokengi.Ke hum paron se nahin hoslon se udte hain". He had been hit on his left thumb during India's match against defending champions Australia at The Oval on Sunday.

"Team India opening batsman Mr Shikhar Dhawan is presently under the observation of the BCCI medical team".

However, he took a blow to his hand from a Pat Cummins delivery early into his innings and did not field during Australia's reply.

Reports from India suggest Pant, who missed out on making the 15-man World Cup squad, is expected to fly in as cover for Dhawan. The Kiwis have won three out of the three games while India also triumphed in both the matches thus far.

Meanwhile, rising star Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu are on the BCCI´s official stand-by list in case a replacement for Dhawan is needed.

Team physio Patrick Farhart is assessing Dhawan's injury after the batsman was taken to Leeds for detailed scans.

Shikhar will be unavailable for India's matches against New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies and England.

Though undoutedly the Kane Williamson-led side will carry that rhythm from the warm-ups and unbeaten run in the tournament.
