"To see Rose Lavalle have the confidence to go at players, Sam Mewis taking on players and scoring from outside the box, they showed really well".

The Americans decimated Thailand 13-0 in their opening game at the Women's World Cup.

Adding to the US dominance, Rose Lavelle and Samantha Mewis added two goals each.

It's hard to place a negative when a team wins 13-0, but despite the late goal scored, captain Megan Rapinoe didn't have a great game against Thailand, and her issue was mainly on her crosses coming from the left.

Elsewhere, Sweden overcame hard conditions to beat a stubborn Chile side 2-0 in their opening game in Group F in Rennes. As in 9-0 in favor of the United States.

Thailand, meanwhile, is hoping to advance past the group stage after earning just one win in 2015 and leaving the tournament after three matches.

Kickoff: The national anthems have played, and US versus Thailand now is underway. Morgan refused to settle for a hat trick and tied this record by netting her final two goals in the 81st and 87th minutes.

The 13 goals the USA scored are the most by any team so far in the World Cup. But now the United States, and, in a way, Thailand, have the record for highest-scoring game in Women's World Cup history.

Carli Lloyd earned her 275th cap for the United States in their win over Thailand, moving her to fourth on the all-time list.

Only Brazil midfielder Formiga (37y 99d) has scored a goal in a Women's World Cup encounter at an older age than Carli Lloyd at 36 years and 330 days. Chile is also arguably an inferior team to Thailand, so look out. The American's lone legitimate challenge come on June 20th against Sweden, in a match that should determine who takes first place out of the group.
