Nicki Minaj cancels her concert at a Saudi Arabian music festival

Nicki Minaj has canceled her concert in Saudi Arabia after educating herself about some of the human rights issues occurring in the country. "The July 18 festival in Saudi Arabia still shows Liam Payne as a performer".

Trinidad and Tobago-born Minaj was scheduled to perform at the Jeddah World Fest, billed as "one of the biggest music events ever staged in the Middle East", on 18 July.

The US artist, who is known for provocative dances and explicit lyrics, was supposed to be sharing the stage with other top worldwide performers such as DJ Steve Aoki and British artist Liam Payne who still seem scheduled to perform as per the festival's official website.

After much controversy surrounding her upcoming show in Saudi Arabia, Nicki Minaj has chose to back out of the Jeddah World Fest.

The organization reacted on Tuesday by praising the reversal of Minaj's decision.

"This is what leadership looks like", Halvorssen shares in a new press release. Millions of people around the world are inspired by your devotion to human rights and human dignity.

Over the past several months, the kingdom has seen performances by the Black Eyed Peas, Mariah Carey, Sean Paul and others. The five-page letter seems to have resonated with the "Megatron" rapper, who has now pulled out of the Jeddah World Fest performance. The kingdom is also promising quick electronic visas for worldwide visitors who want to attend.

But the efforts to "modernise" the kingdom, led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has not improved the state of human rights in the country. Can women go to the concert without a man? Of course, that hasn't stopped the constant human rights violations, nor the brutal murder of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi a year ago.
