Simona Halep follows only two on Twitter including Brit snooker star

Nadia Comaneci predicted "no one in Romania will be working for a few days" as they would be too busy celebrating Simona Halep's "amazing" victory over Serena Williams in Saturday's Wimbledon final.

The Romanian thrashed the seven-time champion 6-2 6-2 in under an hour on Centre Court, picking up a second major crown to go with her French Open win at Roland Garros a year ago.

Though it seemed as if Serena Williams was about to cruise to a historic win at Wimbledon, Simona Halep defeated the "Greatest Of All Time" in a shocking upset!

In her news conference, Williams acknowledged her path toward matching Court's Grand Slam record, saying having a baby "definitely plays a little bit into it". "I still work hard for every day, every match, every tournament". "If she wants to win titles, if she wants to beat records, that's the question".

"Well I had nerves, my stomach wasn't well before".

"I just came on court and I gave my best".

Chasing the 24th Major title, Serena had to finish runner-up for the second year at Wimbledon, never finding the rhythm against the opponent who barely put a foot wrong in the entire encounter, finishing with 13 winners and three unforced errors, losing only 12 points on serve and playing against one break point!

"I wish she would just make a commitment for the next year-and-a-half to two years and just say, "I'm going to absolutely devote what's necessary for my tennis so when I look in the mirror when I'm older that I can go back in my mind and know I gave everything I had and be happy".

While Osaka was in tears over the furore when she received her maiden grand slam trophy, Williams doesn't regret the way she acted, saying it only strengthened her resolve to keep fighting for equality.

"You feel light, everything is lovely", she said. Because if you listen to him, you get the good things. "That's kind of what I've been doing since I got to 18 (slams)", Williams said after her Wimbledon defeat.

It worked and then some as Halep broke into the opening game and then again to go 4-0 up after 11 minutes.

Williams will appear in a pair of tournaments before heading to the U.S. Open in late August.

The pattern continued in the second set - with Halep's superior speed and waspish groundstrokes allowing her to get Williams's cannonballs back with interest until she had forced the error.

Serena Williams' tennis career will come to an end one day but her determination to fight for equality won't. "Wake up Serena" someone yelled as Halep served for the first set at 5-2. "I didn't think about the score at all". She was Wimbledon champion.

Then in a great and wondrous rush it finally hit her.
