Tottenham 'hijack' Arsenal's William Saliba transfer with late offer to Saint-Etienne

Saliba, a France Under-20 global, joined Saint-Etienne in 2016 and is one of the game's most highly-rated young centre-backs.

A transfer fee has been agreed between the two clubs but the added bonuses are proving to be a sticking point. As such there is set to be a meeting on Saturday that could finalise Saliba's move to Spurs instead.

William Saliba is subject to a late offer from Tottenham Hotspur as the club attempts to outbid their arch nemesis Arsenal for securing the services of the Saint Etienne defender.

Arsenal must reportedly accelerate their own talks with Saint-Etienne or risk missing out on Saliba.

The youngster is said not to be too keen on leaving Roma but does want a better contract and significant wage increase and that is where Juve, Arsenal and Tottenham come in, they can offer far better terms than what Roma can.

Saint-Etienne are demanding the France Under-20 global back on loan for the upcoming season as part of any deal.

Unai Emery had identified Saliba as a long-term option for the Gunners.

"Arsenal had an agreement with Sainté and the player". Tottenham may still lose Toby Alderweireld this summer with Roma interested in signing the Belgium global while Arsenal fear they could start the next season without Laurent Koscielny after he refused to go on the club's pre-season tour this week as he wants to leave.

Saliba, who made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, has vast potential and looks set for a very bright future.

He has been tipped for the top thanks to his combination of strength and skill on the ball.
