Teen Pushes Birthday Gift BMW Into River Because He Wanted A Jaguar

A young driver from India allegedly pushed the BMW he got from his parents into a river. Akash allegedly thought the Beemer was too small for him and his friends to hang out in, so he chose to take it for a swim.

Video from the scene shows the ride floating above a pile of tall grass as locals, divers and an earthmover try to pry the submerged vehicle out of the water.

Police are now investigating the matter and it's unknown if the vehicle was retrieved from the river in working condition.

His father, Sanjeev Kumar, defended his son and denied that Akash wanted a Jaguar.

"He kept insisting that he be given a Jaguar, as a BMW is a little small for him and his friends inside", he said.

"When the youth was plunging the high-end BMW auto into the river, he also made a video and put it on social media", a police official was quoted by the Indo-Asian News Service.

Officials called the incident a personal matter and they will proceed according to the law.

Police eventually caught up with Akash and questioned the 22-year-old about the submerged BMW.

"We could only afford to give him a BMW, while he kept on insisting that he be given a Jaguar", he continued.

"We thought there may be somebody in the auto but when those engaged in the rescue operation reached the vehicle they found none inside", said one unidentified villager.

He enlisted the help of some local divers who worked to pull the auto back to dry land.
