Written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson), Dolemite Is My Name! delves into the late, great Moore, who's best known for his title role in Dolemite.

Keegan-Michael Key to Star in Dolemite Is My Name! Eventually, he financed his first film, Dolemite, in 1975.

As the story goes, after Moore moved from OH to Hollywood in the 1970s to pursue a career in entertainment, he heard street tales about a mythical pimp named Dolemite. You'll want to watch this one a few times because it's that good. Undeterred by his failures, Moore has one more insane idea - and this one just might work: Dolemite. An official release date hasn't been announced but the film will premiere sometime during the film festival which is from September 5 through September 15. "I'll put my finger in the ground and turn the whole world around", Moore says in the Dolemite trailer, as he kicks, punches, and shoots his way across Los Angeles.

As though Eddie Murphy weren't enough star power, Dolemite Is My Name boasts an absolutely loaded cast, including Keegan-Michael Key, Tituss Burgess, Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Snoop Dogg, and Wesley Snipes as the one actual star involved with Dolemite's first big screen foray. However, his ambitions exceed selling bootleg records deemed too racy for mainstream radio stations to play. Things begin to take a positive turn for Moore when he links with a social justice-minded dramatist (Keegan-Michael Key) to write a film for Dolemite, involving Kung Fu and high-speed auto chases.

Let's take a second to give props to Netflix for rounding up such an wonderful cast for Dolemite Is My Name. Look for him next in the Coming to America reboot with Wesley Snipes.
